A study conducted by research firm IDC determined that in 2006 the world produced 161 billion gigabytes (161 exabytes) of information, a number that is many times more than the 5 exabytes UC Berkeley estimated for 2003.

But as one person in the AP story remarked, does it really matter how many factors bigger it is than the 2003 study? When numbers grow so large, when so much information s exchanged, why do the matters number? It’s still more than any human can comprehend…
